Last week, Shiru Cafe Providence celebrated its one year anniversary. Thanks to the support of the college hill community we have been able to operate until today.
On March 8th we had the opportunity to visit Downeast Coffee Roasters in Pawtucket, the source of Shiru Cafe’s unique coffee blend. The Director of Business Development and Training, Matt, was kind enough to give us a tour of the roastery and teach us the basics of coffee production and tasting. The space was full of fascinating levers and pulleys, and we learned a lot about all the complex processes that go into making a quality cup of coffee, from the cleaning process to the roasting process to the process of combining different ratios of beans together to create unique blends.
